As always, the Ohana will be bidding farewell to two couples that frequented our weekly runs and often joined us on our 'little excursions'. Justin & Kristine, though only having been with the gang at the shop for roughly six months, will be returning to New York so Kristine can pursue her graduate degree in organic medicine. Justin, a teacher and running coach at Waianae H.S., will be doing some coaching at a small college as well as upping his triathlon/running accolades. While their time with us was brief, they made an immediate impact as Justin tore up the roads, trails, and swims about O`ahu placing in several road races and triathlons. Looking forward to hear how both progress.
Our other couple, has been with us about three years. Never realizing how fast the time has gone by, Laura and Jason S. will also be heading to the East Coast (joining Stroller Mom & Dad) as Jason takes on his next tour of duty in the Air Force. Both have done numerous running events with us including the Honolulu Marathon, Kona Marathon ('06), and the MPRRC marathon series. Laura will joining the small contigent in San Diego to reunite with most of the mainland Ohana there and run the RnR marathon Sunday (6/1/2008).
Speaking of which, about seven of the O'ahu gang depart (or have departed) for San Diego today. While most are amient about the upcoming marathon, all are very muchly looking forward to the reunion with our Mainland Ohana including Stroller Mom & Dad, the Red Rabbit, Miller-time, and the Animal! Unfortunately a key member, maniacles, had a previously planned trip to Japan with his family (Ohayoo gozaimasu/Konban wa! Ogenki desu ka? - Good morning/afternoon! How are you feeling?). While no marathon venture is complete without 'Dr Death/maniacles', we'll be glad that he is relaxing and having fun. Likely while we are running those 26.2 miles, he'll be up a tree communicating with the rainforest birds! Have a safe and fun trip Omura clan!
Of equal note, we also want to wish 'Smooth' and Dave L. good luck at the Honu half-Ironman/Ironman 70.3 Hawai`i this coming Saturday! Both will undoubtely do very well and have a great time! Whoops time to roll to HNL! See you folks!
